mY JOURNEY
My name is Daniela Meoushy (Dani) and I am the founder and owner of Bespoke Care. I establish Bespoke Care after working in the Disability industry for the last 20 years, having started as a Social Educator/ Support Worker. I have worked for large organisatios and encouraged life changing outcomes for the people I supported.
My passion for caring and supporting people living with a disability began at a very young age. While many kids my age where playing and just being kids, I was caring for my older sister Barbara who was born with brain damage due to complications at birth. Barbara’s developmental delay had a big impact in her everyday life, she needed to attend special schools and needed close supervision. I experienced firsthand the many challenges she had growing up, the biggest one being segregated from the same life opportunities that the rest of us had. From then on I knew I had to change the way I perceived inclusive living and found the need to advocate for a more inclusive society. I aspired for a better understanding of the barriers that people living with a Disability faced. I chose to do my year 10 work experience at Marsden Institution Hospital in Westmead where adults with an intellectual and physical disabilities lived. Even though it was a very confronting environment for a 16 year old, I was determined to grasp the opportunity and as a result gained a significant amount of insight. I continued to gain more experiences throughout High School and I volunteered at a Special School Leisure Links Program where I supported children in community access activities once a week. I have dedicated my adult life to the Disability industry working for large organisations in direct support and coordinator roles. I have supported people with a diverse range of disabilities and I will always cherish their contributions to my career. I believe I have made a great impact in the lives of the individuals that I have had the pleasure of working with. This journey has lead me to create what I call a “business with heart”, where my passion and my visions can continue to expand. This will allow me to provide a more personalised approach, opening the door to new opportunities for people living with a Disabilities.
